Who am I?

Scott Von Doviak is a Derringer Award-nominated writer living in Austin, Texas. His debut novel Charlesgate Confidential (Hard Case Crime) was named one of the top 10 crime novels of 2018 by Tom Nolan of The Wall Street Journal. Stephen King called it “terrific” and “a fun machine - the white knuckle kind.” His short crime fiction has appeared in Mystery Tribune, Saturday Evening Post, Shotgun Honey, and Tough, among others. He is a former film critic for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and longtime contributor to The A.V. Club. He has written three nonfiction books on film and television, including Hick Flicks: The Rise and Fall of Redneck Cinema. His ‘70s-set crime thriller Lowdown Road will be published by Hard Case Crime in July 2023.
